Amy Bernath

Director of Development and Operations

As Director of Development and Operations, Amy leads CEEMI’s operational planning, oversees financial and administrative systems, and manages fundraising and funder stewardship. She also contributes to CEEMI’s programmatic work advancing evidence-based policy, data systems, and cross-sector partnerships.

Amy brings more than fifteen years of experience in nonprofit leadership to improve education and workforce outcomes across the U.S. and internationally. As a managing director at IREX, she led delivery of education and youth employment programs that reached more than 10,000 educators and 2 million students in 90 countries each year. Under Amy’s leadership, IREX’s education practice advanced evidence-based reforms with national governments, including modernizing teacher preparation and career pathways in Jordan and unlocking $12 million in public funding for effective programs. She also launched key initiatives to use technology for improved education outcomes, from virtual teacher training to AI-assisted instructor coaching and curriculum development.

Amy began her career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine where she taught English at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. From Ohio University, she holds an MA and BA in Political Science and a BS in Social Studies Education. Amy lives in Denver and enjoys exploring the mountains of Colorado with her husband, two daughters, and their rescue dog.
